Aftercare Tattoo Instructions

Tattoo aftercare is by far most important aspect of your tattoo journey.
Post tattoo care should not be taken lightly.
Please read carefully 🙂

#1 LEAVE YOUR MEDICAL BANDAGE FOR 4 DAYS (IF POSSIBLE)
SecondSkinâ„¢is a breathable tattoo bandage which provides an effective barrier against water, dirt, germs, and friction.
Leave your "plastic film" SecondSkinâ„¢ on for a 4 days (unless it crack and water from shower is coming inside, in this case go directly to step #2
It might look like a normal kitchen plastic film, but it's not so please DO NOT REBANDAGE with any other kind of bandage unless Anita gave you another piece of bandage SecondSkinâ„¢ to change it.
** If in any case that your wrap opens up before the preferred period, remove it and proceed to step #2
In the first 24 hours, there may be a build up of plasma under the SecondSkinâ„¢. This is completely normal. If so, remove the bandage and repeat from step one

#2 REMOVAL
-Peel up an edge or corner of SecondSkinâ„¢. If this proves difficult, you can attach medical tape to the corner of the film to help lift it.
- Slowly pull the film off. Do not pull it straight up away from the skin. Instead, pull the film back and across the skin while holding your skin taut.
You may experience some redness around the tattoo where SecondSkinâ„¢ was applied to the un-tattooed skin. This is also completely normal and may occur with any type of medical adhesive.
Apply a small amount of lotion. After cleaning your tattoo, ensure the area is COMPLETELY dry before applying a very thin layer of your chosen aftercare product/lotion to help moisturize and nourish the area.

#3 DAY 1 AFTER BANDAGE
Wash your tattoo with warm water and non-scented soap to gently wash away any ointment, blood and plasma and to completely clean the area.
Do not use a washcloth or anything abrasive. Your hand is your best tool in this case. (If your tattoo feels slimy and slippery, you have probably been oozing plasma. Try to gently remove as much of this as possible - when the plasma dries on the skin surface, it creates thick scabs.)
Then pat (do not rub) the area firmly with a CLEAN towel or paper towel to get it completely dry. Follow up with a VERY LIGHT application of aftercare cream. Apply the lotion to your tattoo whenever needed to keep it moisturized.
Keep it clean by washing with non-scented soap 2-3 times a day

#4 DAY 2-4
Your tattoo should be starting to dry up now. Be sure to only handle your tattoo with clean hands. Apply a thin later of lotion and rub it into your skin so that it absorbs it, leaving almost no trace of lotion on the surface.
** DO NOT OVER LOTION. LESS IS MORE. **

#5 DAY 4-7
You will start to notice some peeling going on. You will also start to itch, just like a sunburn when it begins to heal. The advice here is, don't pick, and don't scratch! You can soothe the itch by applying a thin layer of lotion to moisturize it, or slap it.
***DO NOT PICK AT IT ***
Continue to keep it clean and apply cream

#6 Day 7-14
Your tattoo healing process should have 2 layers of scabbing :
-The first layer, which is a thicker layer of flaky scabs with full-on ink color on them.
-The second layer, which are super dry, scale-like thin flaky translucent scabs.
Both of these layers are crucial; DO NOT pick at them ever.
Your tattoo is almost healed, and now is not the time to ruin it.
Continue to keep it clean.

#7 AFTER YOUR TATTOO IS HEALED:
After your tattoo is healed....use sunblock everytime you go under sun.

DO NOT :
- Soak your tattoo in water for extended periods of time (swimming, sauna, spa, bath, long shower…)
- Over moisturize your tattoo
- Expose openly to sun (Sun is number 1 Tattoo killer)
- Handle your tattoo without washing your hands first
- Scratch or pick at your tattoo
- Use Vaseline, Aloe Vera or Body oils during healing process (2-3weeks)

** Do not use vaseline (blocks out oxygen penetration from your skin, causing blurriness whereas) or aloe vera on your new tattoo aloe vera (detoxifies the body by flushing foreign matter, including ink, from the skin, resulting in some fading). **
** Do not use Neosporin for your new tattoo. Some can have an allergic reaction to Neosporin, which causes little red bumps. When the bumps go away, so does the ink,
** Avoid body oils on tattoos during the healing process.**
